Breba of the Year

This is Drap d'Or. Only had one breba, but is about 6' down the trunk from where this seasons's growth started. Ripened on 9-8-2009, about a week or more after its in-ground sibling ripened main crop figs.

The leaves in the back are a different plant, and this bare trunk extends about 3' about the portion shown in the pix.

Which turned int this:

Kind of confirms my hypothesis that brebas that ripen in the heat of summer n short season climates are quite good, but when they ripen early, here, when the weather is cool, they do not perform.

Jon, in the back right corner the plant with the nice looking pointed leaves ,
what is that called if you dont mind me asking.

I think that's a papaya.
Sue

Sue thanks for that answer.
I looked it up and the leaves are exact match.
Oh i enjoy papya very much to bad i cannot grow that here.
That leaf is very nice looking to me.

Ficus papayus

Thanks for the confirmation Jon.
Its a rather beautiful leaf at least in my eyes. The flowers, trees, fruit  that one can grow in your climate and in florida are just fantastic looking.

Martin,
The only reason I knew it was papaya, I asked Jon the same question when I was last there. It's a beautiful plant. :-)
Sue

Ficus Papayrus.

Jon,
thanks for taking the time to take that picture of leaf and posting it.
It sure is a beauty at least in my eyes.
