greenbud, my very first fig was Italian Honey from Gurney's.  When it produced figs, I knew something was very wrong.  I posted photos here of the leaves and the black fig (not Italian Honey), and it was Identified here as Violette De Bordeaux.  Another member in AZ also got a VDB mislabled as Italian Honey by Gurneys.  We were both happy with the outcome of the mislabeling and our VDB trees are fat and happy! 

The only Italian Honey I've ever seen rides a motorcycle..........
