Brebas Early in April

Brebas usually don't taste good on most trees. I got 3 trees that are popping out brebas left and right!, King Arthur, Black Italian, and Breva de Galicia. I have tasted BI but not the others. The leaf pattern on these trees are different. I hope they taste good. Here's a few pics. Wish I had JD's camera and skills

King Arthur

Black Italian

Breva de Galicia

cheers,

Nice Dennis. Maybe they will surprise you and be delicious!

I have a Verte with a main crop that never ripened, and the Verte never went dormant, and there are huge brebas too.  I just am waiting for the color yellow!

VDB has huge brebas, looking black, but not drooping yet.

Suzi

Are you going to try them?

Yes you going to let them ripen or take them off
Inquiring minds want to know. ; )

I'm gonna let them ride!

Kinda of figured that especially cause of your climate .
Here there nnothing to brag about although few years back i did taste a Hardy Chicago breba that
was good just not as strong flavored as main crop.

Dennis, Is that the Italian Black from Durio? It looks good.

LdA, Paradiso (Bronze or Nero... they are all mislabeled) , VdB, Persian White... and few others showed breba and holding on to them. few other had breba, but dropped them.

Ride, ride, ride, let 'em ride!

Dennis,
I can't believe that BI breba is already turning color!
...just some jealousy from up here in the cold NorthEast...
Jim

Yeap Jim.....I don't think it's gonna make it. Fingers crossed! We have 70 degree weather this week and 80 this weekend! Gota luv the South!

Dennis, I've got some small potted figs that are developing figs (some before they leaf out). The fruits are nowhere the size of those monsters you are lucky enough to have. Do you think I am seeing brebas or an early main crop? Among the active specimens are Salce, Carini and St. Rita. Thanks.

Now your sounding like Jon !  ; )

Hi,
Except for my "Unknown supposed brunswick" and the young trees , all my cultivars are showing brebas: "Goutte d'or" , "Dalmatie" , "unknown from the Italian", "Unknown supposed ronde de Bordeaux", "Sultane".
As for brebas, the ufti brebas are better and bigger than her main crops.
Hopefully, the brebas crops won't all be bitten by the fresh mornings - dark stains do show up on some so some brebas already did :°°°( .

Snaglplus, my only so big figs at that time of the year are the figs that overwintered on the "Dalmatie" . I do knock them off as soon as I detect damages on them - but still some are hanging on .

Nice, Dennis.  Good looking breba coming along.  How long does it take for the BI breba to ripen?  Do the main get much bigger?
Mahalo.

Nate

breba crop doesn't stay on too well for me. most of them drops. not sure why. maybe not enough water while stored in the garage... this yr, i think i might get to taste few, but doesn't look too good. few dropped since my last post. Paradiso (Bronze or Nero) seems to be the only one that's holding on to the breba tight.

Breba here will drop because of the cold it seems.
