Breba's forming

Ok I know everyone wants pics but I will only be able to take pics on sunday as plants are at my parents house. Today While putting the rest of the plants outdoors for the first time I noticed allot of them had breba's.

Plants so far with Breba from pea size to golf ball sized.

Wow good for you. I only have a huge one on my mission and a small one on my kadota. That is great I will be waiting patently to see your pics

Nelson, this is good news. Hope you have a bonanza year. Keep us posted on what have turn out to be super tasting. I have many varieties that are giving me figs for the 1st time. However it is the older trees that are giving me the most breba figs especially Latarulla & Barbillone. These 2 are in-ground trees and this month is our frosty month. I would definitely put a tarp  them over them otherwise I am certain I would lose all those nice brebas.

Hey Paul, Last year I lost all my Bronze Paradiso Breba due to late frost in May they were huge Breba's hopefully I will get a few this year to see how they compare to main crop in flavour. Definately more than double the size of Main crop and much more elongated.

The one breba I am trully hoping that ripen's is the Ludgero's Unknown. This is the plant my father bought last year main crop nearly identical to Bronze Paradiso but the Breba that ripened last year was even superior to main crop and this year it is loaded with breba, if half of that breba ripen dont think will see much main crop but again breba is even tastier than main crop.

Nelson, just off my head, some of the 1st timers having brebas are I-395, Blk Ischia, Zingarella, Latarolla, Malta Black, Strawberry Verte, GM5, Smith, German Black & many more. I would be preparing to send you some stuffs this weekend for monday shipment and I think you will like Nefiach(Baud) etc. For reliability in postal service, would you prefer I send them to your dad address ?

Hey Paul, if shipping with canada post best bet is to send to my work as they usually pass by in the morning and seems the guy actually likes his job lol unlike the goof where i live. Will email you the address.

Thanks

Nelson, I like the way you put it across ....the goof part. Ya, I would be real upset for moldy precious cuttings and good thing you checked with the post office. I could not believe the goof never leaving you a note. Kind of humorous that you were such a devoted fignut that you actually went to the post office to check & it was sitting in the Post Office. Otherwise it would have gone back to sender.

Paul thats exactly what he is, this has happened too many times and its always the same guy. This year I received a plant from Portugal wich made through customs but this bozo never left me a notice so by the time I got the final notice it had been in the post office for 5 weeks and sure enought was as dry as a prune.

Also packages from fig friends were left there for weeks and no notice left behind. When I called canada post and freeked out they just said sorry so I told them to go F%^& themselves. So basically if I have no tracking# to track packages I need to go to the post office every couple days and check.

Its ridiculous.

Ok finally pictures as promised sorry was not able to take pictures of all of them as I had a meeting and was in a hurry.

Nice pics Nelson,
I have a question regarding the last pic of the Drap D'or.
the bud at the base of the leaves, is that a fig?
if yes, is that considered breba or main crop?

Thanks

Yes its a tiny little fig, thats just under the first leaf so I would assume it would be a Breba. The three breba on the left branch were main crop from last year that did not ripen, they were about the size of a pea in november funny enough in early april I noticed they had doubled and now are much much bigger than last month weird no?

Wierd... maybe
wonderful. YES.

Many thanks for the pics.  I live vicariously through ya'll!

Mucho Beba!

My congrats.
You must be doing something very good - maybe with the help of your local climate...

Thank You George, I was surprised myself with the amount of Breba this season all these plants were stored in my father's garage wich the coldest temps we seen was in Feb. when temps reached -15Celcius for 3 days around 0 farenheit but yet they are doing well and did not notice any dieback either on any of the plants.

Hi Nelson,

How has your spring been?Mine has been lousy so far and almost no breba here in zone 6 ri,Whats the technique?

Geo

Hey Nelson,

That dog dosn't look like your boxer, He's not cross eyed enough.

Great job with the figs.
Tell us how they do overall.

Geo, spring here has been lousy as well cool and lots of rain. The only thing I did different this winter was I never watered any plants from November until the end of april. When I brought them outside at the end of april they were extremely light in weight.

Rafed thats my Parents dog Nikita she is a Spitz got her when I was 15 years old. She is now 16 years old and well.
