I have four cuttings that rooted. They only have a couple roots on them. I lifted them up from the rooting soil (layed horizataly) to check on them and one of the root have broken off. I was heartbroken because I only have a couple roots on them. Should I add more moisture? The soil is kinda of dry.

Pictures of your set up will help us give you the best advice.  Many of us root in long fiber sphagnum moss or perlite to avoid what happened to you.  Too much water is bad and so is too little.  One way to get roots out of soil without breaking them is to soak them in warm water but it's even better not to disturb the roots at all.

I will wait 1 week till I disturb them again. I will put a wet paper towel on top. I'm just afraid when they are ready to be transplanted I will break all my roots.

I do not take my figs out of the cups  utill 6 to 8 weeks and the roots have time to harden so they dont break off, Rex.

I broke off some of the roots while i transferred it to a cup too

on my other cutting which is still on top of the soil, some of the roots darkened, i know its the condensation from the temperature 
fluctuations since i leave it in the boiler room


does this harm the fig when this happens?
