Bronx unknown

this fig drips honey from its eye when fully ripe and has very good flavor...Any thoughts on what it could be.

The fig looks like a Celeste type and the leaves look like a brown turkey type....So I would say, maybe adding a flavor, berry, honey or figgy taste might help.

Hey Armando, it's a combination of berry and honey ,, with just enough sweetness

John, you sent me cutting of this fig, right?  I only labeled "bronx fig", but have no clue who sent me. I harvested the only fig  I allowed it to grow and it fits your description. I thought it was pretty good. I think I should had waited another day, but I did not.

Thanks John, Wow that sounds good, berry with honey....Hopefully someone can identify.

Yes Grasa that was one that I sent...glad to hear that it grew for you...it will get better with age...you should also have gotten a green one from me....

thanks Armando, all I can tell you is that the mother tree came from Calabria Italy

John, that looks like a nice productive variety.
How did you come across this one?

hi Rui I posted this tree last year ...my uncle brought it from Italy in either the seventies or eighties ..

Well, I don't think my green from you made it.  But that is OK. I like this little fig very much. Thank you.

~how cold hardy is it ? your low winter temps are ? do you protect it for winter ? how do you think it would do in zone 6 in southwest pa. ?
I gave it minimal protection last year and had some top half die off,but it came back strong and is ripening figs now.The tree is in its fourth year and grows in ground. The mother tree grows unprotected in the Bronx , it had die off ,but is growing back..Our low temps get into single digits..I think it would do ok in your area with some protection.
