Bronze Paradiso Tree

Ok here is some pics of My Bronze Paradiso Fig that was given to me unfortunately there are no ripe figs on the tree anymore because they were all stolen By Rats this pic of the ripe fig is the only one I ate so far and boy was it delicious. The battery died after that picture so I didnt have a pic of the cut fig It is pinkish inside and very sweet.

Nelson,
darn one fig and the rats got the rest?
Luckily i dont have that problem but id fix em if i did with an oversize drain dish and line it with some glue traps the real sticky stuff not touching your pot of course. when i go to water i would just lift pot straight up and out.

Nelson
There is always the next year..... for you & the rats.
Keep hope that rats/squirrel will somehow agree to give you your share.
Google "Bon Bon" in GW fig forum and see if it works for you.

Oh they are going to get Bon Bon's alright. My parents never had issues with rats until the next door neighbour started putting lots of bird feed next to the fence. My dad is going to put his Portuguese Ingenuity to work and get rid of those darn pests. Im sure a Cat in that little cage would work but im sure the Humane Society would be all over that. Martin I tried the glue traps 2 Years ago in my Dads garage , can you believe one day I got there and found two rat paws in there and no rat he chewed them off to get away. This stupid cage was just temporary to make sure the racoons out but so far they have not been the problem next year will be doing something different.

Nelson,
those are some rats you have there.
Iv'e seen some nasty ones in my day in the train yards, one day i was working the midnight shift sitting on the loop track right in front of the switchmans shanty and my partner was in the yard as well,   we were gonna make this move then go eat our meal that we had set out inside the shanty until we got a call on the radio. I saw this huge rat on the windowsill looking for a way in and i called my partner on the radio and said is the window closed , luckily for us it was.
In our yards we had overhead lights but walking between the long trains it would just be a glow of light and several times i had the be jesus scared out of me when one would run across my boots as they were quite big, we used sit on the shanty's landing on a nice summer eve and throw rocks at em to pass the time.

I hate Rats but they sure like to test peoples patience well my mom called me laughing today saying my dad covered the floor with rat traps lol we will see if that works. Earlier this year it was Raccoons stealing all the Early Golden Plums wich they only learned when one of them fell off the tree right in front of my Parents Pitbull boy did that raccoon learn his lesson.

Here is Champ the Raccoon Problem Solver

Nelson:I want to point out that your Bronze Paradiso,is different than Joe Morle Paradiso, and also from White Paradiso(Gene strain).
I do have one like yours, and I can see how different from the others,is.
Mine do not have ripe fruits yet.
I also have seen this Paradiso,a long time ago,and I am sure you have a Paradiso, fig, indeed.
Best Regards

Thanks Herman so far I only ate that fig on the picture and even though it didnt rippen completely on the tree the flavour was outstanding. This plant is very productive and I noticed it also has allot of twin figs. Cant wait for next year.

This pic was taken today Sept.7th ate a few like this best tasting fig I have eaten in quite some time. Just wish i would of waited 2 more days would of tasted even better still have about 12 or more same size.

hehe, that poor fig in prison.  You could always try to put it on something taller or arrange to hang it off the ground.  Then you'd only have to contend with the birds.  Before the figs come, do you let it out on 'parole' so it can get some nice sun in the yard?

What a beautiful looking fruit. That fist picture looks like it was air-brushed or an oil painting. thanks for posting

That prison is just temporary lol, Its in the middle of my dads vegetable yard it  gets sun from sunrise to sunset. Its loaded with figs right now every size this is the second fig I ate so far this year, This tree is very productive if the rats didnt steal the figs we would of ate over 30 this year. Theres over 40 figlets on the tree now all different sizes like the ones in the pics above to the size of green olives.

Ok went by my parents house yesterday and these are the last of the Bronze Paradiso figs left on the Tree. More like blue paradiso at this point still had over 20 smaller figs wich i picked off yesterday. Sorry about the pics they were taken with my phone

Nice looking figs your parents have there Nelson!

Thanks for posting the Pictures.

Oh I wanted to eat them so bad but I was nice and left them alone for my parents, when I gave that plant to my dad he was making faces before he even tried one of those figs now he brags to everyone lol.

Enjoy them while you still have them!

And I'm not talking about Figs!

Very strange:The colder it gets, the lighter in color my fruits gets.
I see in your case is the other way arround.
But I shoud not wonder :anything is possible in the fig world.

Herman during the summer the figs were more yellowish than bronze this year and now that its getting cold they are turning Purple Blue. The funny thing is that my parents also have Collard Greens that are turning the same colour im assuming its from the cold.

Ok so my dad brought me a fig today and boy was it good tasted a bit like raspberries.

Very beautiful tree Nelson, I have a Paradiso but different strain.  I still think the Paradiso is the best so far in my garden, but have had a few this year that are neck and neck with it.  The shape of the last fig pick you posted is very similar to my paradiso.  Different color.  My paradiso gets green and then gets blushy color. And big.

Hi Maggie I love this Bronze Paradiso the colour was completely off this year I had some green/Yellowish figs some were green & bronze some were just bronze and these last ones were the darkest I have seen yet but the flavour was wonderfull on these last figs and I dont mean good for this time of year they are delicious period. There are still 10 figs this size on the tree. Definately a keeper

Ok my mom picked this for me this morning not as sweet as the one I ate on monday but still had a nice flavour. My mom said there is 5 Figs this size left on the tree its been a bad week no sun and mostly rain.

Nice looking fig,and thanks for taking the time to share. Moms Are Great!!!
Sal

I love the interior color of this one. Looks very good. Thanks for sharing.

Its true Sal my dad brought me a fig on Monday and my Mom today im lucky to have parents like I do. This fig has a different colour and shape than its supposed to this year must be weather related.
