Brown Turkey?

I know 9 times out of 10 that if you find a fig tree at an abandoned house I SC it is a brown turkey. But before I make an ass out of mostly me I was looking for some validation.

ps Fight the urge to respond with "Yes you are an ass."

What does the fruit taste like?  If it's pure sugar, then you know it's Celeste.  Pictures can be misleading but I agree with you---90% of the fruit trees in the Carolinas is either Brown Turkey or Celeste.  Most Celeste fruit trees are really bushes in the Carolinas.  And most BT trees that grow straight up become giants and are over 30 feet tall.  But it has been my experiences that you'll have a better change guessing if you get to taste the fruit.

My celeste arent hollow like that ,my brown turkey are.

Well it doesn't taste like sugar but is pretty good. It is hollow in the middle. So I think I got your run of the mill brown turkey. The main reason I wanted to know is that I took some cuttings off of it last year to practice my 1st year rooting skills.

My celeste have a hollow center if not picked ripe. Brown Turkey figs are 5-10x bigger than Celeste. If they are all >30g they are more likely Celeste. Ripe Celeste figs are sweet, like canned peaches in syrup. Brown Turkey is usually more watery melon flavored.

Due to the large variations of Celeste and BT trees, it can be very difficult to tell them apart based on only a few characteristics, which by themselves are not definitive.  If you look up the F4F site on Celeste and BT, you will find a lot of "accessions" under their names.  Maybe some of them are mislabeled and got mixed in.  It can be confusing.  One of the characteristics of BT is that its fruits has that pinkish/reddish eye when unripe but not in Celeste fruits.  However, I do not know if this covers all the "accessions" for these two varieties.  The Celeste figs I tasted (my neighbor's and mine) tasted similar but I'd not think they taste like sugar or honey.  They do not have cavity in the center (some BT accessions do not have it either)....Most Celeste figs are not large, but that can be debatable as well.
