Greetings All on this snowy day in Maryland,
About two weeks ago, I took a few cuttings from my Brown Turkey that is sitting dormant in our attached garage. No bags, no sphagnum moss, but I did seal the ends of the cuttings with wood glue, and placed each one into a milk carton filled with half perlite, half Miracle Grow seedling mix. I then covered the containers with a plastc bag, and placed in dark location, on a heating mat. Within one week, i was already seeing bud greening, and better yet, roots sprouting out right at soil line.
Slight addition: I did melt about 8 or so holes in the bottom of each container to ensure good drainage. One thing nice about the milk carton is that it is very easy to slit the container when you are ready to transfer to a proper pot.
I took a few pix to capture the root growth, but today I plan to add a bit more soil/perlite to bury these roots. I don't need a plastic cup to see root growth when the roots are visible!
