--- Brown Turkey, Tena, Pastilliere pix

These were collected from the 1-year potted plants.

I was mostly anxious to try the BT since many say it is not a good fig. I would give it 9 of 10. Very good one! Juicy, sweet, large. Like it a lot.  - @6 o'clock

Tena has a honey taste, also very juicy, greenish-yellowish color. - @12 -

Pastilliere is one of my favorites since it has the highest level of acidity and I love that. When it is fully ripe, it is a sweet berry with lemon. - @9 -

Enjoy!

Nice looking figs, Igor. I'm looking forward to trying Pastilliere and Brown Turkey soon. Hoping that my Pastilliere doesn't drop it's fruit, as some say it has a tendency to do. I really enjoy the figs from my Blackjack also, which is said to be BT. They are large, sweet, and figgy. Thanks for sharing your thoughts and photo.

Thanks, Gary!
My Pastilliere has not dropped the figs for me.
Could you post a photo of your ripe fruit when it is ready, please?
I want to compare with mine.

Igor, you are killing me. My Pastilliere is still taking its time here...

I will, Igor. Just not sure when, as the cooler than normal weather here is slowing the ripening down.

Grasa,
You need to turn the heat way up for it to ripen :)
I still have about 5 little green figs but ate about 6 yummy ripe ones!

On a scale of 1-10 how would you rate Tena? I've got one growing and I'm excited to give it a try, but it's looking like I'll have to wait until next season.

Igor,
Nice figs!
Is this the Cal-BT? or just any BT ?

Francisco

Francisco,
I believe it is a regular BT but its page has a huge list of synonyms:
http://www.ars-grin.gov/cgi-bin/npgs/acc/display.pl?1000649

I received the DFIC 17 cuttings from UCD on March 19, 2013.

Last year my brown turkey fig was my favorite. It needs lots of sun and correct watering. Thanks for posting my Pastilliere got infected with RKN and died. It upset me, but took the loss like a man....LOL

Thanks for sharing Igor. Tena looks amazing.

Hi Greenfig,
My main-crops have not started yet - my post on BT is about the breba-crop for now.
Do you have a pic of the leaves of the BT ?
Yesterday, another Pastiliere dropped ... Still 3 hanging... My Pastilisere had 2 labels : "Rouge de bordeaux" = Pastiliere and "Ronde de bordeaux" ... Well, the fruits will tell, but the elder label was "Rouge de Bordeaux"
so should be that.
I read somewhere that Pastiliere should be the earliest unifera ... But ok, August is still here, so probably I'll get them in September ...

Jdsfrance,
My figs are grown in containers and the riping time is different from planted in the ground.
Also, in the Pastilliere case, it is a young plant that doesn't know the seasons well and with a regular pinching keeps producing.

I will post the BT leaves later today.

Igor,
nice pics, Pastiliere looks so inviting, i'm drawling here LOL
thanks for the post.

jdsfrance,

Please see my BT leaf photos attached. They are quite diverse.
There is even one fig that is almost ripe there!

Hi Greenfig,
Not a "standard" BT. It could be a "something BT" .
The main-lob of the leaves have a more simple shape on my (standard) BT .

Really? !
So what that DFIC 17 is then?
A Cal-BT? It surely is a good fig in my book.
