Brunswick 2013 - Update

Real jammy, not very sweet, no crunch. Doesn't remind me of berries, melon or anything else. I gave it
a 4 on a 1-10. It will go somewhere else.

Mike...it could be the rainy weather too, diluting all the sugars, etc...maybe give it another season before cutting it loose...I have a Brunswick too, but no fruit this year(first season)...I'm hoping for better results in 2nd or 3rd. year.

If you were a neighbor it would take no time to flip it over into yard and give it the special heat treatment.
Looks pretty at night as the plants glow thru all the drilled holes in can for air to stoke the fire.

Vince, you may be right but the others that were harvested today had the same conditions. Its in a 20 gal pot and takes up a lot of space
I could use for a large Black Madeira or something else "dark."

Brunswick aren't for us SE people, mate.

Shah8, that is pretty much what I am saying. LOL

I have so much envy for people that own their yards. Even a Brunswick might be a bit of fun (right before I plant it in the wilds somewhere for the deers.)

I suggest a grafting experiment with the rootstock and some choice scion(s).

Well, I just found another Brunswick that was hiding from me. It was no better than the first.

Martin, I am going to USPS it to you for the barrel.

If anyone locally and willing to come to Newnan and pick it up, this
tree is yours. You would need a truck.

Your words good enough for me Mike.

goss

Martin:

Hang some dry, mozzarella cheese in that smoke, and put the burning fig plants to good use. Smoked mozzarella is delicious. Some good olive oil drizzled over crusty Italian bread, some ripe tomatoes, and smoked mozzarella....lunch is served.

Frank

Frank, cut it out, you're making me hungry for a late fridge raid!

Tony:

I read this thread late last night, and after posting my "suggestions", I made myself get hungry. Of course, I had to eat a little something before I went to bed.

Guess what I'm gonna have for lunch?

Frank

@Frank - Save a piece for me! Since you made me hungry, before I go to work I'm having pizza the way my grandmother made it, although I'm going to cheat a little using a store bought pizza shell. Olive oil, spinach, slices of tomatoe, olives, chicken, feta cheese, Parmesan and mozzarella.

If I had fresh figs I'd put them on too.
