I budded a black Madeira on a Lebanese Red. Successful so far.

Good job!  I tried that once on a grapevine, but it failed.  Gonna try again on an avocado soon.  Looks like this is a big success!

I put a white Triana on my P Honey and it is swelling nicely, also a Gino's black and a Holier on a negronne. Works very nicely and pretty easy to do!

I have a 4-5 year unknown that has never had one fig.  Been waiting for the fruit for ID here, but this may never happen.  It has beautiful leaves and is vigorous. Can I take a bud from a cutting I'm rooting and see if that will take on this unknown rootstock?  The tree is in partial shade.

Hey Gordenia. It is a proven method of creating a tree that produces more than one varieties of the same fruit on a hardy rootstock! You find a tree that grows well,is resistant to drought or too much rain ,diseases etc and you graft the varieties of the same fruit or same family of that fruit( peach, plumb,apricot, almont,nectarine belong to the same group and are compatible to graft together)that you like or match your requirements on it! That is the improvement! Hope I could help!

Does it happen while grafting fig trees that the grafted bud makes a fig and no stem ?
That happened to me with a damn cherry tree - a former seedling... Man, was I p*ssed ! Got 3 flowers - none turned into a cherry, and they fell and voilà, done .
That bud was the only one that the grafter (not me at that time) managed to get going ! Since then, I think stem grafting is more efficient ... Just IMO .

Looking good. I find this very interesting and will follow this thread for more updates. I am still learning to root cuttings.
