Buddy Tape

I was wanting to buy some Buddy Tape after reading about it here.  Wasn't expecting it to be so expensive.  About $45/roll on Amazon!

I got a quote directly from the supplier for $150 for 8 rolls (including freight), which comes out to $18.75/roll.

I only want 1 (maybe 2?) rolls, do you think if I listed the extra on ebay at $20 + shipping, would they sell easily?

And is this really that much better than a $5 roll of parafilm?

Parafilm works fine for me but then again, I have never tried Buddy Tape so I can not give a fair comparison, is it worth 9 times more or if you purchase 8 it would be 4 times more than parafilm???

Do a search on eBay. I bought the one roll I have for $27.77 shipped.
I have never used parafilm.
I have limited use of the buddy tape

One of the four CRFG chapters I'm a member of has typically bought it and sold it at their scion exchanges for something like $12/roll but they didn't do so this year because they weren't sure there was enough interest this year and the guy that did the ordering had enough for his own needs.  I'll be starting on my last roll before long but probably still have enough for this year so I'm not in the market yet.  I find it stretches a lot better than Parafilm and I like that it's already perforated which is helpful when doing a lot of grafting or wrapping of cuttings.  But I have rolls of Parafilm and Nescofilm (a discontinued product I liked a lot better than Parafilm) so I'll probably just use that if I run out.  I'm not sure how many folks know enough about Buddy Tape that they'd be willing to buy it on eBay from you.

I got mine from there. I failed with parafilm and succeeded with buddy tape, so it was worth it to me :)

I'd buy one to try it.
Have only used parafilm so far.
Let me know if you do list it  James.

I buy this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MAKI53M/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1.

It's not buddy tape, which I think is thinner, but it works for me.

I am also trialing parafilm and my home made mix into an Ikea clear tub and 14 hours of aquarium/plant 4 foot florescent bulbs. Its Harvey and Tim's method and I am giving it a go.
I bought the 1" wide tape on eBay for about $6.00 a roll shipped.

I use the Project Source Stretch tape from Lowes.  I tried the same tape from Home Depot, it is a different brand and it is much to ridged for grafting.  The GardenPlus brand has brought me a very high success rate with my grafting, and it's like $3.00 a roll.  I learned about it watching all of the grafting videos from Dave Wilson Nursery.  "They did not say the exact brand, I found this one and it works great for me!"

I use the same product Kelby posted. I've had good luck with it wrapping cuttings and grafting apples. It is thinner than the parafilm used in labs.

I went ahead a bought a roll of Buddy Tape from the guy on that other fruit forum mentioned above by ohjustaguy. Thanks!

FWIW, I've only used parafilm (1") but have liked it. I pre-stretch sections of mine before wrapping. Would be nice to have a more pliable version (like buddy tape I'm guessing) but for the cost it's hard to beat! Let us know how you like it James.

I prefer the 1" because it means less wraps around the cutting.

Is there any video about how to use Buddy tape? Yesterday I tried to use it to wrap the tops of my cuttings like I do with parafilm, and it's almost impossible. It's perforated in three inch segments (like a roll of stamps) so when I stretch it around larger cuttings, it just breaks at the perforation. I like the texture of it. It has less of a plastic feel than parafilm, so I can see why it would be a better wrap for the cuttings. But I think I must be doing something wrong.

I just used parafilm to wrap some graftings. I found it easier to use and stretch if I cut a section off the roll first. I found working it while on the roll to be a bit cumbersome. After awhile you get an idea as to how much to cut off.

It's not cheap! But I believe this is the very best . approx 1 inch wide already half perforated in 2" lengths..more than enough for the average graft/budd. ..an enviable stretching capability of 7 to 8 x and keeping its performances.

Thanks for the great video. Is there sound?
They don't seem to be bothered by the perforations tearing when the tape is pulled tight around the scion or graft. Perhaps their tape isn't perforated? The three inch segment by itself wasn't long enough for the larger cuttings. Or perhaps I wasn't stretching it thin enough.

AM - the guys who are really good with buddy tape can tape some grafts with pretty large scions with one 2" section of tape -- the stuff will stretch incredibly.
