Bulk New Zealand Sphagnum Moss

Good morning, does anyone have a good source that sells New Zealand Sphagnum Moss in bulk?  I am building 3 cold frames and plan on filling them with nothing but  New Zealand Sphagnum Moss.  These cold frames will be 4'x4' x 6" deep so I'm gonna have to get a lot of it. thank you in advance! Cheers!

Dennis,
What is different about NZ sphagnum moss ?

See Amazon

Yeap, that's what I'm looking for.....long fiber! Thanks Jon.

Dennis, quality sphagnum moss (New Zealand) is very expensive and if you just see it called "long fibered sphagnum moss" it is likely the stuff from Chile. New Zealand has the best stuff and it is very expensive, most of it goes to Japan and Taiwan for orchid culture. For cold frame use you should have no problem with Chilean moss. There are a couple of good sources in Florida, OFE Int'l in Miami and Tropical plant products in Orlando area. When buying moss always note the dry (compressed) weight as this is how it is sold, not in the expanded volume.

Hi Dennis,

Is this New Zealand Sphagnum Moss?  I received some cuttings smothered in this moss, it is so soft.

The wholesaler that I get my bird seed from sells ZooMed products.  I can get this for $9.60   http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Zealand-Sphagnum-Pounds/dp/B0019J2MA2/ref=pd_sim_sbs_ol_4

Cathy, yes, those are the New Zealand Sph. moss. I found this type of the moss to be the best for propagating fig cuttings. I purchase them through Amazon.com (link that you provided). Soak them 24 hrs before using them, also cut them in smaller pieces as well.

Dennis, hope you don't mind me answering Cathy's question.

Navid.

Hi Navid,
Thanks for your reply.  I'm sure Dennis won't mind you covering for him.
Hope you had a good Thanksgiving.

Nope, I don't mind. Thanksgiving was great! Thanks for asking. The long fiber is the right stuff. I've now got 4 mini hoop houses and i plan on starting all my cuttings in them next year usins moist long fiber moss. The moss hold water very well and keeps the cuttings from getting too wet. Sorry for not responding sooner. I've been busy checking trees and moving trees inside for winter. And I'm still not done! Cathy, I owe you what you requested. Please send me your address in PM. I think I have the address of others. I plan on making one mass shipment to those I promised on Tuesday.

Hmm.. not sure if this helps but I know of a fantastic, good quality wholesale moss supplier, Oregon Evergreen & Willamette Evergreen. It's Oregon green sphagnum moss, very succulent and efficient for keeping soil cool and moist.
