buy fig tree in Queens or Long Island in NY

Is there a farm for me to buy a fig tree in Queens or Long island, NY?

Thanks.

Contact member ejp in Long Island and Queens, he is a great, trusted grower. Zaino's used to have some decent fig trees. Better bet: get down to Bill's figs in NJ.

Try:
"Zaino's Garden Center"
1038 Brush Hollow Rd.
Westbury, NY
516-333-7097

They usually stock bearing-age fig trees: Atreano, Brown Turkey, Petite Negri, Black Mission, etc.  Call ahead....stock varies from year to year, and they are probably moving in new plants now.

Search;  "Flatbush Fig Farm" might be another source....
"Keil Bros. Nursery"/Queens

You should have no troubles finding common variety fig trees on Long Island.
Try: Forum Member "ejp" for the more exotic/less common varieties.

Happy hunting!

You can also try:

Not my 'Go To' place but they're very nice and I've been happy with them.

Bill's Figs is worth the trip!

I don't have any ready for sale yet but come the summer should have a few ready, you can also try on craigslist. There's always a few people selling on there, nothing rare but good trees all around is what you'll find on craigslist.

Last year I stopped into a small nursery on S. Oyster Bay Rd. in Bethpage that had a "Fig Trees" sign out front.  They had several large potted fig trees with faded Belleclare tags on them.  They are not far from where the now closed Belleclare nursery used to be and I bet they bought out a lot of there inventory.  I don't recall specific varieties and haven't stopped in yet this year.

Also in SI, NY : Pete of 'World Of Figs' ...

He owns many fig varieties from the original (now closed) 'Belleclare' nursery.
As far as know, he does NO SHIPPING.
Interested locals (others will be ignored), can email me for his phone# and a possible pic-up purchase.

Edit: Both Pete (not a FF member) and Ed (ejp) usually attend the SI annual fig-festival on Sept 15 th.
(date is fixed; location is not?) and they do offer some fig plants for sale there.

I was at Lowes in Farmingdale yesterday and they had great looking 3 to 4 foot fig varieties for $29.99. Really nice selection of several varieties including Celeste and Brown Turkey. Maybe all the Lowes have figs in stock. Good luck
