I rooted these in straight perlite, then transferred to the clear cup about 2 weeks ago. With the very mild temps we're currently having, I took advantage of the camper shell on my truck as my humidity bin during the day. At night, the garage stays somewhat humid too. When the 30s come back in a couple of days, I'll put these back in the house in a covered plastic bin to maintain humidity. They love it in the truck! I placed an old shirt around the cups to keep the light from affecting the roots. The mix you see is Pro-Mix BX with extra perlite. Here are a few that have been in SIPs for about a month now.
Nice job Frank! Using all your resources, and nice SIPs.
I like the camper idea Frank.
Great idea Frank. Anything that works.Good luck the rest of the way.
Thanks, gentlemen. I figure this may help acclimate the babies outdoors sooner too. Get them used to filtered sunlight at the minimum.
I was introduced to this greenhouse years ago.
I think I remember about Richard Watts using his station wagon to do the same. Great idea."gene''
Nice job Frank. How are things in Virginia? How are the Asian Pears doing? Any luck with the cuttings I sent you?
Jon,I actually got the idea way back when I was reading throughout your site. The van housing the cuttings is what sparked the idea. :)
Gene, that was Richard's van.
Kids will like camping when they are young, but once they are older its "Dad, do we have to go camping again...":)
Brilliant. But why is it so empty?
