Hello...I have a 7 yr old fig tree that gives me wonderful purple figs but I don't know the name of it.  I've attached a couple of pics.  It's still a small tree so I get a very small breba crop and a little more on the main crop.

Any help from the experts would be greatly appreciated!

It looks like a Mt. Aetna type fig.  Do you know where it came from?

no Pino sorry it was cutting one of my relatives gave me but they didn't know what it was

Its nice to get new fig varieties but it is frustrating when they can't give you an idea where or who it came from:(

How will we ever find the true pioneer fig smugglers..LOL

I was doing some more searching on the net and it looks like it might be a dark Portuguese fig
can anybody confirm this or its off to searching I go

I think your best bet to help narrow it down would be to ask the relative you recieved it from more questions. If you could maybe get the country or culture it originated from would be a great help.

Beautiful fig though. Do you grow it in a pot or in ground?

Unfortunately cis4elk that's not possible.  It is grown in the ground and I bury it on top of my large fig tree to winterize it.
