can fig ripe indoor?

my mother likes plants, however, she lives in an apartment. she has number of plants in her sun room, but they are not doing too well.

she saw my fig trees and wants to have one of them. i'll give as many as she wants. however, i don't want to find out later that none of the figs are ripeing since they are indoor. sort of level set her so she won't feel so let down.

does fig ripe indoor?

pete

Pete, yes they can ripen indoors but most of the ones that ripened for me were tasteless. They do need direct sun to get their full flavour. I did have figs in my condo and put them outside in the spring in the balcony not allot of sun but they were much much better tasting than the ones that ripened indoors.

nelson,

thanks for the info. the sun room gets some sun in the morning. maybe that will help.

Hi Pete the more sun the better, but even in my office wich gets allot more sun than when I lived in the condo. The figs would ripen tasteless and not sweet at all. Sorry I know thats not exactly what you wanted to hear but its been my experience that they do ripen but dont pack any punch.

nelson,

thanks again.

at least i know what's going to happen. i'll inform her of the fact, and i'll keep some trees at my place call them her trees so she can enjoy the figs when she visits.

she can take home as many as she wants, there is some satisfaction of seeing tree grow and bare fruits.
