Took a lot of cuttings cleaned them with water and a tiny amount of beach sealed them in plastic even put canning wax on the cut ends, bark is green CAN'T ROOT ANY OF THEM SCARE TO LEAVE THE MOTHER TREE OUT WITH OUT SOME PROTECTION UNTIL I CAN MAKE A BACK UP. ITS THE MOST COLD HARDY TREE so I think it's also the worst to clone too

So use old wood? That is what I did, some are one inch thick 

Make sure the humidity & temperature in your rooting environment is right. 72+ degrees with 80% humidity should do the trick after 2-4 weeks.

Some varieties are harder to root than others.  I had a Green Ischia sitting in the humidity bin since November and do nothing.  This week magically it is starting to grow.

I find freshly cut healthy 1yr wood is better for rooting.

You may want to try grafting some scion unto some other fig tree with a good growth habit in your area. 
You could end up with a better performing fig and will have your backup.  Remember you need the scion to be dormant and the rootstock starting to grow for most graft types 

1.put a couple to soil/sand mix to try
i found wet paper tower is slower than real soil/sand mix.

2.also move the cuttings close to windows, let them enjoy a warmer sunshine. (half sun/half shade).

3.remember to cover and open it daily for fresh air and spray water to the plant to keep very light moisture.

If you have the mother tree set an air layer. Almost guaranteed positive results.

Oldguy what variety is the tree? 

Have you tried to use Clonex with a coco/pearlite mix?

Older wood cuttings or cuttings with just one node on the top often need very long to set roots.

Give old thick cuttings one or two days of a nice mild warm bath, this reduces hardiness of the bark.
Some varieties defintily have thicker bark than others. Especially potted trees often tend to make this thick bark.
Maybe scratching it a little to help cambium to grow through it can also help.


And my general advise: never, NEVER use just on method to try rooting. Use bag, use pot, use peat....

Is the tree growing bushy, with several root-shoots ?
If it is the case, just set a ground layer - that is the easiest to do.
With the cuttings that you have, this time of the year, I simply put them in loam (dirt from the nurseries) in gallon pots outside in the garden and I let them do.
Most of the time they start growing  a bit later than normal, but they grow healthy .

I agree with manficco! Be ready to try the next rooting method! If one method doesnt work, try another. I had cuttings that I tried rooting for months and finally, one day they had roots! Worth the headache & the effort! Dont give up!
