IMO, with a rootball that strong, you don't need to remove leaves.  Just water well, and store in the shade for a week.

Yeah right, the crazy thing is it was set June 16th, and it was ready a week ago, I let it sit another week, cause it was a 2 week air layer, it developed so fast, all 3 on that tree! Doesn't seem possible but there it is!

I started an air layer on the 4th of July on a HC. I should leave it along unail 4th of august? Did you use any hormones for rooting?
