CDDG Is Crazy!

Hello,
I got this cutting a while ago and was rooting it until some roots grew and I finally potted it. It is by far my fastest growing fig! The fastest suckering and branching too! Only my Mulberry cutting is keeping up with the growth!
I had doubts that it is a Col de dame because of their reputation for being slow growers, but now I think the leaf pattern is similar.

here is a picture of the 2 suckers.

One on the right and the other is on the left.
There is a Ronde de bordeaux control cutting in the same pot which is slower that the CDD.

My CdDG has been a very fast grower as well. Hopefully that means they will fruit for us this year!

I hope so too, I want to know what everyone is raving about :)

I think the reputation comes from CdD Blanc from UCD which does grow rather slowly for most people.  The others seem to grow more normally.

Yep my CDDB from UCD which I started last March grew maybe 3 inches all summer.....hopefully it will do better this year.

Good to know that. Thanks guys.
I guess the blanc looks best but looks like it is a drawback being a slow grower. I hope it grows better this year for you hunter.

That fig is one thousand percent Col de Dame .

I find i have cuttings of same figs from different locations grow differently. I believe if the mother tree was a real fast grower so are the kids. If she waslazy so are the kids. Lol. True story

My CdDG has the most vigorous growth rate of all of my cuttings to date, nothing compares so far.

My CdDG is the slowest grower of all my new fig plants. I had it in a warm greenhouse. No growth. I put it in a warm, bright sun room with extended light. No growth. The other trees are bursting their barks with new green shoots extending up and CdDG just sits there. I've moved it outside into all day sun and eighty degree temps to see how that works. The leaves are healthy and the new buds on it are swelling, just nothing has taken off so far. I'm worried the weather here in SoCal will be too hot for it. Perhaps it would be happier with afternoon shade?

The CdDG I started 12 weeks ago has also been very vigorous. I have it in a 2 gallon pot already.IMG_3516.JPG

Amazing it looks like about 85% of CDDG cuttings are fast growers. Now hopefully we will test productivity :)
Thanks guys for your valued inputs everyone thanks :)

How cold hardy is a Col De Dame Grise? Anyone have any experience with this variety around  zone 6B ?

Yes I have experience,with it.
Just like other healthy cultivars it will resist to about 15F,in ground with minimal damage to tips.
Any lower than 15 F, grower needs to provide Winter protection, how ,much depend on how cold, is going to get,and also how strong the North east wind will blow.
Edit Note:I only got about 4 ripe fruits ,in 2014,due to unusually cold Winter and Summer.

Hi,
CDD are said to be late ripening , just like Bourjassotte - both later than panache which already is late ripening.
Did you get fruit your cddg ?

Hi, not yet because it was just a cutting 5 monthes ago. I hope I will get figs from it because today I ate 2 figs... We do not stop getting figs here. The only problem is that they ripen one by one and not altogether. Figs these days taste meh, sweet and okay but the skin is getting sublime With the cooling weather.
