I've got so many Celeste nearby I don't grow any in my collection. I wish I'd seen any of them bud fruit at this point.
@Dave, for Celeste around here, the body of the fruit is usually between the size of a nickel and a quarter, typically closer to a quarter with a typically long skinny neck, very teardrop shaped overall. Usually a dark pinkish tan inside, sometimes reddish brown. Skin is prone to cracking when ripe, and they'll stay on the tree till they either dry out or rot. In-ground trees here typically get up to 20' tall and 20' wide and keep a great form. Well-ripened fruit has a good sweet, almost brown sugar taste, and I'd give the fig itself a solid 6/10. If you dry them in a dehumidifier, I give them an 8½/10, getting the water out of them amplifies the sugary richness to a point just shy of light molasses mixed with maple syrup. On some strains, younger trees are prone to fruit drop, but this is reportedly not an issue after ~4-5 years in-ground, after being well established and/or in areas where incredibly intense heat isn't a factor .
