Celeste from EL same as Black Celeste?

Celeste from EL

same as Black Celeste?  (I think there is also a blue celeste?)

or all they all the same.

Black Malta I have seen is a grandparent to Celeste (not sure if that implies Black or Blue) or if its the same, lol.

Any clarifications would be appreciated.

i have celeste from el. it is a nice tasty purple/brown. I do not know if it is the same as black  celeste. not the same as malta black. by the way it is more cold hardy than hardy chicago. we had minus 2 or minus 3 a few times. celeste is coming back from the ground. HC looks like dead roots, no life, same growing conditions and age.

Interesting that you say this about it being cold hardy.

I had 3 or 4 varieties last year (and I did not bring them into a garage or cover them in any way while in pots).  I feel bad about this, but just did not have time.

I figured it was too late, but I brought them in sometime in late January (when we already had a pretty harsh winter).  They all died except..

The EL Celeste, (I just noticed today, May 10)... is leafing out from the bottom.

I have a small Blue Celeste, started from a cutting planted in ground.
It has been protected over winter, but has been killed over the soil line.

Now it starts sprouting, hopefully it will recover in a month ...

Pawpawbill, how cold hardy are your in ground fig trees?

rofig,
I will pray for yours Blue Celeste….so you will be able to send me a cutting …..in the future .))))

Pako,
Thanks for your wishes, I will let you know if it will recover...
