CHICAGO HARDY FIG FRUIT TREE SEEDS??? Aren't CH common figs?http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-15-Seeds-CHICAGO-HARDY-FIG-FRUIT-TREE-SEEDS-Ship-Next-day-from-USA-/111119804133?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19df41a6e5Are these people fleecing?
Hardy Chicago is common fig. meaning, that they do not need to be pollinated to produce edible figs. also, in NJ, there are not fig wasps.. meaning, those seeds are not fertile. unless of course, it's been manually pollinated.
But if someone in So Cal or the Middle East had a HC it could have viable seeds.
OK, I just tried reporting it, and hit a dead end in ebay's "report an item" form. It has canned reasons (a predefined selection list), and I couldn't find one that fit. I gave up on reporting it to ebay. Instead informed the seller.
These guys are making money off of worthless seeds from trees that should be grafted. Nothing they sell is of any real value except maybe the cotton and pepper seeds, but I wouldn't trust anything they sell, especially their Rainbow Rose seeds! I think every morning they eat their breakfast and sell the seeds that afternoon.http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-10-Seeds-Rainbow-Rose-Seeds-Roses-Gorgeous-SAME-DAY-SHIPPING-FROM-USA-/111117059577?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19df17c5f9
The "Rainbow Roses" don't grow with all the colors they show, nor do they explain that. The way the different colors are made is by splitting the stems of a solid color rose, guessing a white rose, and dipping each split section of the stem in different dyed water. The dye is absorbed into the petals creating the multi colored affect. Who ever buys the seeds will be disappointed when the roses bloom. Seems they're a bit deceptive. Who knows, maybe they're a spin off of Ty Ty Gardens. I would stay away from them.
When I was about 8 years old, I sent away for "Sea Monkey" eggs. I thought that I would eventually have a pet that would sit on my shoulder and eat bananas. Instead, what I got was an education. I learned what it feels like to be made into a first-class sucker. It was the first layer of the coating of cynicism that I wear so proudly."Hope and Change"...should be on the same page as the "Hardy Chicago" seeds. Both products are the same.Frank....oops!....my cynicism is showing.
Not sure why I bothered, but on the chance that they're honest people I had the following correspondence with them. If they don't remove their auctions, someone can report them to ebay as fraudulent. (Bugs me that I couldn't figure out an easy way to report them to ebay when I tried).
Now it's BT "seeds" from PA. No fig wasp there either.Ebay has no way to rate a seed seller b/c the feedback period is too short.
Milehighgirl the best way is what you done - bring up topic to forum , most know about fig seeds but folks joining forum and just getting into figs may not and they can learn from that. For others i would not bother much with trying to contact these type of sellers its mostly "fruitless" no pun intended.
