Are these two figs the same or very similar? If they are similar which is better? The fig4fun data base says chico and strawberry are synonyms for Adriatic, but it doesn't say Chico Strawberry.

Chico Strawberry is a subcategory of Adriatic figs.  Another probably similar tree/synonym is Saratoga.

Of course, there's the variety Adriatic as well.  Nobody really talks about that as opposed to JH Adriatic.  Last I remember, JH Adriatic figs don't have that lipstick red around the eye.

What's the pack getting to big again, Marcus? Time to down size again?  I know the feeling. My guess is this spring, I'll be getting rid of my chico and adriatic. Have JH adriatic and Ed's Rockaway fig. I have not tasted the JH yet, but have tasted Ed's rockaway and can tell you it's in my top 10 figs. The JH and Rockaway are cold hardy, so there going in the ground. I might even put the chico in the ground and if makes it, I'll keep it.

I added the Adriatic JH to the USDA collection last summer, so in time it will get DNA tested and we will see if it is the same as their Adriatic. Don't think either are the same as Chico Strawberry, which may or may not be the same as Saratoga.

My experience is with adriatic and strawberry verte.  I am not sure if chico strawberry is the same as strawberry verte but s.b. had a much more open eye than adriatic, rockaway and even jh adriatic.

Thanks guys, I guess now I'm leaning towards keeping them to see, which is better. Even if they are a little different I would just want to keep the better one. Ed is strawberry verte the same a verte/ green ischia?

It's in the same family but Jon would know better or even if they are the same fig.

There's a Rockaway fig?  I was born in Far Rockaway. 

I was wondering along the same lines, is chico strawberry the same as strawberry verte?
