Chill out and have a drink.

Our dry Colorado air really draws the moisture out of the soil in the pots, and this time of year snow or ice cubes help to keep the trees dormant a wee bit longer. Things are starting to warm-up and I am definitely not ready for the shuffle yet. I keep my trees hydrated with good shot of snow every 2-4 weeks, it melts slow and soaks in real nice.

Very nice, Calvin!
How many inches across are those 2 pots on top?
I purchased a numbers of the green ones last weekend but it seems they are slightly smaller. I was debating between 2 different sizes but went with the smaller one.
Are you going to uppot them at some point or that would be your permanent max size?

Fig shuffle will be here before we know it buddy!

Igor,

Most of those pots are 16" across the top. There are seven of them, they are the different varieties of cuttings I kept from last year. I plan on going bigger, but hoping at least some of them will stay in those pots for this year. The next step up is the 24" from HD. I know I'll likely move the Falcon up to a 24" or one of the bigger clay pots in the other picture. The middle tree in the other picture is Petit Negra (RT), which I'll be moving up to a bigger final clay pot in the next month. I prefer clay, but I've decided to only put the trees I know I am keeping for sure in them, save alot of work and money for a bit anyway. This summer I'll have to get that heavy duty hand cart from Global Industries with the 24" folding nose extension, I'm going to build a sort-of V-shaped box out of plywood to serve as a spacer to keep the pot and tree away from the cart.

Calvin, those are some beautiful terra-cotta pots you got there man. don't look cheap either.

Aaron, I really like them. There is a pottery place really close to my house, they import large amounts terra-cotta from Mexico. I buy my pots out of season, they are steeply discounted when nobody is growing anything :)

nice bike :)

Pete, I'll buy you that bike, but promise to be a good boy! No make up!

Thanks Pete. :)

I have to keep my assistant entertained.
