Nope but I want to try some

I did! Super good, very sweet. Soft in the middle, the chocolate makes it melt in your mouth more.

Almost like a Medjool date covered in chocolate?? :-)

Enjoy

This is not good for me to see.  The doctor just told me to drop two, or, three tons....but look at those freakin' chocolate covered figs!

I did not need to see this picture.... : )  Now, yo quiero!, I want!

Frank

If my grocery store figs that I just bought were dripping honey, I'd think about dipping them in chocolate, but instead, dipping in olive oil, putting them on the grill, and hitting them with 18 year old aged sweeter than honey, balsamic vinegar.

What a great find!  Heading over to World Market tomorrow!

Here, nothing but govt is closed on the 4th!

I had a good Italian friend from Bari that used to bring me figs to work that his sister would make slit in side and insert almond then roast them in oven then dip them in waiting pan on top of stove that contained melted chocolate.
Yes they were fabulous.

See, Martin!  You have given me an idea for half my store bought figs!

TYVM!

Frank, I'm on the same see food diet. Preaching to the choir....

Here's a good one'

Get some dry Dates and remove the pits and then fill will walnut halves and enjoy.

Frank,

Since you're already harvesting your figs why not try to dry some and fill with walnuts. Just don't dry them too much. Maybe in the oven  for a couple minutes?

Tell us how they come out?

Do you mean me Frank, or, the other Frank?  : )

Frank

Sorry Frank,
I mean the other Frank. FMD FMD FMD

LOL

But you should try the same too if you have any figs available, Frank.
Yes, you. Bronxfigs! LOL

Rafed, I told you there were too many Franks on this board!
In the interest of avoiding confusion, from now on I will concede to being identified as the good looking Frank or modest Frank or both. :))

FMD....

Hey, the good lookin' Frankie....did the wife ever see the missing Azaleas?

Frankly I think you guys oughta stick to your forum names it's too confusing

Personally, the only dried figs I care for are fig newtons :)

The thought of taking one of the most perfect foods and dehydrating it ..........  well it's just too much for me to take.

However, being a pastry chef (yes I am)  I think beautiful juicy succulent fresh figs would be quite delectable dipped in dark chocolate!

I think I will take a few to work with me on Thursday and try it out!

Here you go,

Not a fan of fig newtons and store bought dry figs here for me are a hit n miss some decent and some hard like a rock.

My favorite but cannot always dry them cause of season is one i pick and dry myself kinda like picking figs off your own tree when properly ripe .

Store bought shown and 5 of mine shown well whats left of them in January.

I called every store I could think of in a 50 mile radius and no one has ChocoHigos around here  I guess I have to order them on Amazon

here's another interesting site http://www.bombondehigo.com/en/index.html

The World Markets here don't have them.  Very Sad.  Also, they're only $1.50 more on Amazon but the shipping is $26.74.  Even more sad.   :(  Maybe Jennifer can ship me a box.

Where did you get them, Jennifer?  I called the Nampa World Market and they don't have them.

Nevermind  :)  I called a local chain that sounds similar to what "Earth Fare" must be like and the gal who answered the phone said, "OH YES!" and went on a bit like Sally at the cafe with Harry about her experience with them.  I'm off to get some  :)

My bad...the photo was taken at Earth Fare and not World Market. Sometimes my hearing goes bad when the wife speaks. It's a genetic male thing.

I love chocolate, but don't think dipping figs in it would enhance either. But individual tastes vary, thank goodness.

I'm looking forward to drying figs when I get too many - hopefully in the next couple years. If fruits are dried longer at lower temperatures, they turn out much better both in texture and flavor. I dried some of my precious blueberries at 130*F as recommended for fruits, and they were inedible to me. Manufacturers recommend such high temps not because dried fruits will taste better, but so people won't sue them if their fruit rots or makes them sick. My rule of thumb is to never dehydrate things from the garden at temps higher than would normally get outside, so I rarely go higher than 105 -110*F or so.

Don't knock 'em till you try 'em, Gina
