Christmas Fig

This is Lebanese, and If I understood corrdctly, is also called Shtawi and is supposed to ripen at Christmastime. Somewhat different flavor from a summer fig, and the flesh is firmer than the skin, but very pleasant. Fruit didn't start forming till around Labor Day.

Jon,
thats a nice looking fig you have there and ripens around Christmas time is different than what im used to hearing about.
Thanks for shareing that picture this time of year. Still have my mind of figs even though we had 3 to 4 inches of snow and another 3 sytems on there way sheesh , looks like we are definetly going to have a white Christmas this year , so seeing that fig that ripens around this time of year is really nice , good going.

Thanks Jon for the pictures. Here's the location where this fig originated: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&ll=34.284644,35.745955&spn=0.002846,0.004141&t=h&z=18

The word Shtawi comes from the Arabic for Winter. I'm glad it tasted better this year than last time.
