What do you think of this tree?
Hi,Funny. Could be an hybrid, or in a shady spot (inter-node space is big).Do you have a pic of the feet ? for seeing the trunk .I'm wondering how she doesn't crumble to the floor when she's covered in fruits ?
Very impressive. Thanks for sharing!
WOULD LOVE TO SEE PICS OF FRUIT ?SOMEONE GO GET CUTTINGS RTFN ha ha
Very cool. Thanks also for posting.
This tree is located at German.
And she said no fruit this time
Not the same plant, but check out Woodlander's hybrid: http://www.woodlanders.net/index.cfm?fuseaction=plants.plantDetail&plant_id=1586Wonder if it's sterile or if it could be backcrossed to carica?
It says height: 40-50' !!!
Ficus pumila is a very aggressive vine which in time brings the structures it climbs on to a death kneel.
Woodlander's actually has a second Ficus pumila x carica hybrid, http://www.woodlanders.net/index.cfm?fuseaction=plants.plantDetail&plant_id=1988Seems that this one doesn't climb much and has leaves looking a bit more carica-like. I wrote to them to see if they formed fruit and fertile seeds. They said they haven't had them long enough to confirm...so far no fruit for them.
Found this growing, has no figs at the moment but I do not know if the figs are supposed to be found on it. Will check in the summer, just in case. There are 2 slightly different leaf shapes.
