Coconut Coir Burns in Stainless Steel Bowl " BE CAREFUL "

Wow good to know when soaking that stuff

Good for the preppers. Easy way to make fire for the survivalis Lol

Its not a problem when your soaking it. This must have been some freak thing. Sun caught the SS bowl just right or something. I wonder how long it took to burn. Maybe throw a grate over it and cook some chicken.

Wow…. cool video, thanks for posting!

My guess is, this a fine example of the power of the sun’s reflection off the bowl.   I had something similar happen last year.   I had left a piece of shiny aluminum (the kind you wrap trees with for rat issues) out on an outdoor potting bench.   Next day, it looked as if someone had put a blow torch to a beautiful specimen euphorbia cactus almost 6 feet way.   Yep…. that piece of aluminum, with a slight bow in it, concentrated the sun’s love into a near death ray for that cactus.  It survived, but bears a nasty scar!

Okay, Dave brought this up earlier today when I posted in Rafed's FB group about a little incident I had last night.

Here it is again, learn from my mistake!

Okay, folks, if you microwave your coir, be sure to watch it! It was late last night and I nuked some coir for some new cuttings that arrived yesterday. I set the microwave for longer than I had intended and about 16 minutes later I smelled something from my office. The coir was completely dried out and hot but no steam or smoke and the plastic tub was not melted. I used a hot bad and placed it on my porch to cool off. About a half hour or so later I let the dog out and discovered the coir had apparently caught on fire and burned a hole in my porch that was smoldering away! I'm guess since I removed the lid for it to cool off it ignited after getting a big supply of oxygen.

My wife is cool, she just opened up the windows this morning and didn't chew me out! LOL

I'm probably the only one that's worried about the bowl!  :-)
