Saw this on Facebook today, pretty awesome.http://www.triplepundit.com/2010/07/starbucks-offers-free-coffee-grounds-for-gardens-compost/
I am going to be asking soon. Thanks.
You can also grow oyster mushrooms on them.
My mother brings her tea bags and egg shells grounded down over for my pile each week.
The grounds and filters can also be used in worm composting bins!
You can go to any coffee shop and ask for the spent grounds. Their trash is your treasure!
Bob, Any particular oyster mushroom? What temperature and moisture level? Do you have or can you point to directions?
I tried the Starbucks near our home a few years ago but got the grounds only once. Getting them from work has been much easier. Composting worms love them too.
I love getting those big silver bags of coffee grounds from Starbucks. I put them in my compost tumblers and I feed it to my worms. They work great. And they are free which is even cooler.
Great thread . I'm going to approach both Starbucks and DD tomorrow morning !
Oyster mushroom spawn
Bob, Thanks. That was easy. In fact I found some interesting information on how to grow Pleurotous ostreatus in coffee grounds and how to set up a "mushroom terrarium" for the same species.
Now I have the motivation to stop by Starbucks to recycle their waste and order a cup of coffee.
Mushrooms.......please don't get me started wanting to grow something else.... she will kick me out for sure lol!!!!!
