Col de Dame 1012

Would anyone have any idea which color Col de Dame is listed under the #1012? I got my cutting from Encanto 3 or 4 years ago, and the color was not listed. Doesn't seem to have FMV too bad, so I'm thinking it is not the white one. Hopefully mine will produce figs this year, now that it's in the ground.

Jon lists Col de Dame Blanc under just the name Col de Dame, see http://figs4fun.com/Var_C_info.html#COLDEDAME (this is the way USDA/Davis has it listed).

Mike,
Has your plant not yet had figs ripen?
I think it' the white one as well.
I'm up here in Warrenton and would love to trade my CdD B from Gene Hosey with your CdD B from Jon.
Do you ever get up this way?

That is good observation Harvey, I looked at the varietal page and it didn't register that the Col de Dame was the only entry for Col de Dame Blanc. Mystery solved it seems.

Michael, mine has not fruited yet, it has been in a pot, and after thinking back on its growth, I recall it took a long time to start growing. I think perhaps it was more infected with FMV than I remembered and has just come out of its in the last year or so. I can definatly make the trip to see you and trade cuttings at some time in the future. Is Gene's CdD B cleaner than the Davis plant? Mine looks good right now, still a bit small, but I anticipate good growth this summer. Your always welcome to visit if your ever near Hanover, just minutes off 95 ;)

Thanks!

Here in USA, the 'default' for CdD seems to be the 'white' one.
The one available from UCDavis is so.

There are other CdDs, but they are usually qualified further;
e.g., CdD_Noire(black) and CdD_Grise(grey)...

Jon usually qualifies his figs by an accession number (according to source).
I do not know what exactly the #1012 means ...

Thanks George, i'll consider it a CdD B unless i hear or see otherwise. I'm not sure about the number assigned to that plant, but it was the one Jon used to identify the cuttings I bought. The number didn't seem to match any accessions listed on the f4f variety page or the UCDavis list.

I found my notes of what cuttings I tried to get from Jon maybe 4 years ago. I tried to get any Col de Dame varieties available, but only recieved one accession.

E-1011 CdD
Z-040. CdD Gris
Z-061 CdD Gris
Z-123 CdD Noir
E-1012 Col de Dame P

The last one is the one I received, not sure what the P means...

Why so?

Hi George, until I found and reviewed my notes, that was the case, as the cutting came labeled Col de Dame 1012. I copied the list of figs I tried to purchase that year, and it was there that I saw my accession was called Col de Dame P. I'll email Jon perhaps to clear it up if he doesn't see this.

Mike

Gonna bump this up, hoping Jon can answer...Col de Dame P- Provence? Still unsure which variant I have. There are a couple of figs forming, so if I don't get an answer, hopefully I will know by ripening.
