Col De Dame Blanche: Can we grow in container?

Hello,
I recently got a plant of Col De Dame Blance. The leafs are very big. I live in Staten Island (Zone:7a) and I think this will not survive in ground. Can I grow it in a container?
Thnx,
Imran

yes you can grow it in containers.

you can grow almost anything in the container. i really don't see any problem. tho i keep hearing that figs grown in ground taste better. as long as you provide proper water and nutrient, i don't see any specific reason why fig grown in the container will have any specific problem. so far my three 4 yr old trees are doing rather well in 10 gal container. another one 3 yr old one is doing well in 10 gal also. i have 2 yr in 10 gal also, it just got off from transplant shock and doing well now.. i like the fact that i can control things in container.

Thanks a lot!

For what ever it's worth... I ran out of ingredients for my potting mix and tossed in maybe 1/8 red clay   WOWWW the demarcation is obvious.  The pots with red GA clay are producing larger, greener leaves.  I'm a newbie and IDK if this is science or folly but looks like 4 pots in 8  are benefiting from my shortage of purchased commercial potting mix.

clay is loaded with micornutrients and minerals, but of course the downside of clay is that it is not porous and can really clog up a pot if too much is included in the mix. Good luck with your plants, keep an eye on them to ensure the clay does not become a negative

here is my CdDB UCD going into second yr. it's currently in 3 gal container.
