Col de dame noir 2017

4 yrs old in 55 gal Sip, not as productive as CDDB but taste just as good. Also the size of figs on the Noir much bigger than on the Blanc

Pete,
Nice pic.s.
I have been growing CdD B, N and Gris for a few years (well getting figs) trees are as old as 7 or 8 years.
I find the taste of all three very similar and superb. An absolute "must have" if you have the heat to ripen.

That's good to hear, Michael...  CdD-N has been one of my most robust growers, and at 111* today, we do have the heat for it in spades.  My first year trees have put on 6' in height and 5'  in width, but no fruit as of yet.

I have this tree in 5G pot, very fast growing with many figs,  However, We have only 2 days with 85F so far this year, I hope that it will ripen with such low heat, If It can ripen figs, I will put it in 55G or in ground.

Ricky,
Pete's pictures are mouth watering aren't they.
I think you will be lucky to ripen any of the col varieties in your climate which is similar to the UK. I have a two year old "blanc" and I will shortly have 3 ripe figs, but only because it's pot and greenhouse grown.
They really do need the heat and we can only get that with protection in our conditions.

Peter, congratulation, your COL noir figs look so good.
Both Col Noir and Gris have lots of figs, I really hoping  that it will ripen before winter.
This is lucky year for me, I have ripe figs from Desert king , latturala, VDB, black mission( very sweet), Dalemtie , and very surprise that this portuguese big fig as well, it ripen fig at this low heat, I guess that noir / Gris next.

Thank you all for your comments.
It's been a good year with figs ripening earlier and in abundance, averaging 60 figs a day. more than we can eat.

Blue,
I'm jealous (well at least until I get a high tunnel or such up for those incredible varieties that really need heat).
