Ready to start Furnace!!!
What a joke

You are teasing!!  We are having a nor easter, I think that is how you say, this weekend here in Pa,  much snow on the way in the high mountains. We had a nor easter in 97 when I lived in Philadelphia, it shut the city down. The weather people say it is going to be brutal winter for us here.

After a long hot and humid summer these two nights of cooler air will be refreshing and then back we go to 80's and 70's at night. I started my veggie garden late, 3rd wk of sept. My tomatos have blooms but won't set fruit unless night temps get cooler than 74 or they just fall off. If you listen to the tv or read the paper it is really funny. Here is one headline

"Treasure Coast can say goodbye to the 90s after today, but dig out the rain gear and sweaters."

I just hope my trees get a rest this year

Ha Ha Ha ,
sounds like you need some fresh air thats a little on the cool side after all all that hot air stores the pollution, the cool air is so fresh with less garbage in it !

we just set a record for October with 4 days in a row not breaking out of the 40s for a high . Today makes 5 days and we have 2 more days in mid 40s. Out of 120 years this October is the coldest so far they say .
They keep saying we are going to have a mild winter , i hope they are right.

Martin, My a/c usually goes on in March and runs 24/7 till Dec. I might open a few windows at night in late Oct. and Nov. and some sporadic days. I welcome some cooler temps but not that cold even though it is good for the ground and kills a lot of bugs. I do miss the snow, it is as you said very refreshing. The day time highs are bad enough but even worse is the night time temp above 80 that are brutal.

It has been heavy snowing for hours here, settling on the grass and cars and roof tops, my figs outside are heavy with snow I have to keep knocking off as they didn't go to sleep yet,  What a mess here, supposed to get worse tomorrow, what crazzy very snowy weather here in W.Central Pa.  Winter is here already. Ciao

Maggie, I hope all is well and that storm will pass soon. I know first hand what bad weather can do as I too lived up north and went through 2 of the scariest hurricanes in a 2 &1/2 wk time in Fl. The eye came in only 6 miles south on both no power for 6 days then none for 5. No generator at the time either. Sept 2004 Francis & Jeanne I thought a train was coming through the house for hours on end it seemed. The damage was devastating for hundreds of miles not only on the coast but inland. Damage can be repaired, figs replaced Lives not SO.
God Bless
Sal

It's still raining and snowing here in CT.  Maggie, just like you, my trees are all bent over with the weight of the messy stuff.  I'll wait to morning to see what the damage is...

Southern CT: Raining and Snowing here too. current weather forcast:

Windy...cloudy with rain and snow. Near record low temperatures. Low 34F. Winds NE at 15 to 25 mph.

Flood warings are up along the coast with record high tides.

Looks like the end of figging!

Peg

Right about now the cold front is welcome.  We have been setting records for high temperatures in the Tampa Bay area.  Our version of the cold front calls for 71 degrees as the high on Sunday.
