Hi,
If you don't have a greenhouse, well the problem is more the heat. You could be in a whole year mild climate that won't get the figs to ripen tasty.

For doree aka "Goutte d'or" it's cold hardy - I have it in Zone7 - with some winter protection just to be safe  rather than sorry ...
The biggest tree has some 12 big brebas - a show tree for now. I'm waiting for them to ripen to see the final size of the figs ... They are already three times bigger than the figs that my "ufti" is bearing .

Thanks jdsfrance, no greenhouse but we have a very mild/hot climate from Apr to Oct so plenty of time to ripen. Zone 8a can be a mild winter or
like last winter very cold with two mornings at 6 and 8 degrees. I have more trees that I would like to put in ground and was looking for
experience with them.

Mike,
Above you will see answered "Yes" in red are what I have and made it through the brutal winter and looking happy.

Good luck

Malone is a definite yes also. Bass found this in the ground behind an Allentown bakery. I accidentally left mine outside in a pot all winter with no protection ( not this winter but the winter before) and not only did it survive, but it suffered no die back in south east PA.

My Black Madeira suffered the least cold damage in my garage, col de dama noir dieback back to the ground and is sending up shoots, but I didn't protect it properly so I lost much of the wood to rot, I think it should be reasonably hardy if protected properly as far as col de dama gris, Herman has it planted in ground in New Jersery so I would imagine that it is reasonably hardy with proper protection as well.

I had a strain of doree, not the same as Baud's it was decently hardy, suffered minimal dieback in a normal winter, but this particular doree is not the one most people talk about and had bad taste.  Noire de Caromb I am still waiting for sprouts, it's not dead but it's not growing currently either, it also has a large ant colony living in it's pot though.

Hey Rafed, by stating 'YES"  We your trees indoors?  If outside were they winterizered?  If so how?
