Cold Last Night

Well let out the dogd this morning about 06:40am
and in my shorts and tee shirt i could see my breath, the sun was just coming over the house across the street, and then it happened.
I started to get a chill in me and said "Romeo, Luigi, Butch c'mon in as i realized it was cold brrr cold. I gave a quick look at the few remaianing figs as it had rained last night and they looked ok except for a few slas that had split at the eye ,only a few left on my tree's except for my unknown which is loaded still with a just a few that are ripe for picking probably later today.I went in the house and on computer and saw the temp 45 today's high will be 70. The weekly forcast will be daily highs in the 70s with lows in the 50s so this morning it was just plain cold and a taste of things yet to come. So its getting to be that time of year that i don't like to see coming, Where did summer go ? Did my daughter and i eat that many figs already? Yes we did we had a lot and they were good, so now i have to make room in garage as i purchased a few more trees and think about how next year will be as this season of figs is starting to come to an end only a few more weeks left perhaps for me.We had a late cold spring and looks like a early cold fall, time will tell. Darn then winter, so Brrrr

Martin

Oops. Anyway Martin, likewise the same  happens here in British Columbia, Canada where fig weather is lacking this year. Daytime temp now is 75*F and nights are about 60* F. Mornings are dewy & fig rusts are common. Some of my trees are shedding leaves too. Very likely I have to do the oiling  to get as many figs as possible especially on my Enrico & Vicenzo varieties. Well, looks like I got to get my fishing gear ready for the fall salmon run in Oct.

Paully,
it was 46 again this morning i put the real little figs i purchased this year in the shed last night for some protection and it should warm to 75 today , im going to bring them back out to bask in the sun the older ones are almost spent of there figs . Salmon run? I sure envy you we have lake michagan to the north have not been there in years but certain times of the year the stocked salmon come beck to where they were released as fingerlings quite big then the trout follow the run its not a natural run like yours  but its nice for the fishing.

Yeah, the big King Salmon are like pests in most years, so are the chums. They are so many & the old arm hurts when these monster rips out the line.I usually break the leader line, just too difficult to bring these giants in. Good thing this year we don't have the pink salmon run this year. Their numbers are even more. I usually  target the Coho salmon. They are fiesty & taste better. Right now 7.15 am & temp is 52*F & should warm up to at least 75*F. Theres quite a bit of figs left, mostly main crop.
