Hello;
i would like to show the figs that i have collected today on an old tree here in south France near the basque country, these figs are known here as the "Country figs" ( figues de Pays) as they are indigenous for a long time in the area.
I think they are like Celeste variety , these are the best tasty figs that  i ever eat, truly honey inside and kilos of them on the floor and on the tree..
Quite happy to have found this tree, and have taken sommes suckers..

The figs you show seem to be delicious, no matter their name!
Its skin has some similarities with Celeste

I was under the impression that the figs you grow and taste in Tunisia were far better
Been told there are excellent varieties over there...very few people know about them !

Do you grow any of the figs shown/described on this pages ??

Hello fransisco, of course in Tunisia we have severals varieties , zidis, bithers, arabs old varieties like in the link,but now  i am in France since one year plus so i forget a little the tunisans figs higher quality..
Here in France i have two varieties from Tunsia begening to ripe, i will share somes pics in september.
And you in Portugal you have fantastic fruits too,the season should be good..?

The figs you show on this topic look delicious !

Well, the season was very good particularly for the Smyrna types as there was an abundance of good and diligent hard working wasps which did a great job.
And all other figs benefited from this.

This year the Zidis were more but slightly lighter than last year, but still very large and delicious figs

I am looking for the Tunisian variety 'BOUHOULI'  a black San Pedro as well as a variety from Kabylie, 'AJENJAR' - buy or trade a couple of cuttings.

If you ever find a reliable source for these, please let me know.

I know the variety "Bouhouli" as it is a protected labelled variety in Tunisia ,these figs are mostly producted in Beja and  known as "Djebba figs" ("Figues de Djebba" in French) in Tunsia wich is "bouhouli" variety origin in the north ouest of the country, unfortunatly i still not have it in culture but in the future i will get somes as the figs are commercialised in the stores as the Djebba figs 'appelation d'origine controlèe".
So I will certainly can get seeds from fruits next year or cuttings from a friend..
