Common to drop ripe fruit ?

I have a Large Negronne that is bearing delicious figs this year , but has a tendency to drop its ripe figs.
Is this common with Negronne or VdB and related figs ?
The fruit is fully ripened , but not left way beyond that point.
Do other varieties have this trait ?
Thanks ,
Kerry

My Negronne holds its fruit till it is past wrinkly.

My Negronne was holding its well-ripened fruit. It is possible that a gust of wind might have done it, or the fruit slipped off from a critter like squirrel or bird while trying to get it. Getting soaked in rain can also add to its weight causing to fall off.

Thanks for your replies.
I think the rain lately might explain it even though the fruit didn't taste or seem waterlogged it may have been heavier than normal.
Flavor was still great.
Thought I had read before some varieties tend to have fruit that falls when ripe.
