Compost Bin Fig

I was mixing the composted this morning and look what I found. With roots and all...
I had thrown this piece of wood in kitchen compost container thinking it had no growth potential, that was 2 weeks ago. I have no recollection of variety but I planted it with Compost content in a one gallon pot...(since it loved being in the compost...) so I'll keep it as an Unknown. Poor thing, a surviver for sure. LOL

Dang, and I have been rooting figs the hard way, lol.

it's true what they say... less you care better they do. Go figure !

Just goes to show how sometimes we over think things with all the fancy stuff to get figs to root.
Same with once there in containers nothing fancy really is need in my humble opinion
just decent potting mix and some fertilzer.

Martin, what I noticed, as I was reaching the plant in the compost was, that it was very humid and very warm in there. Perhaps it's what is needed for those poor things, and we zip-lock them, box them and drench them with all chemicals and water water water...Let nod forget one more important thing in compost, it had a lot of nutrients and roll-pollys...LOL... rolly-pollys... seriously!!!

See,  our compostable material consists of all the pulps from juicing and all the egg shells, coffee and tea leaves...and I added some dry Oak leaves and a lot of wood chips from the grinding of our fallen Ash tree in last fall. I am also planning to add sand to it.

I pull them out of my compost every year. All the wood scraps too small to be a legit cutting go in and quite a few make it out. They are great to pot up and give to people that want a fig tree and don't care what kind.
