Conadria and Oregon Prolific

Conadria on left, has a berry taste, Oregon Prolific on right continues to have a sweet, refreshing taste.  Most have a honeydew melon taste but today's was just sweet and refreshing.  Both had fallen off into their organza bags and were waiting for me when I got home.  The bags are tied to the branch.

Those are figs ?
What is refreshing taste  - as in after dinner mint  ?

Kind of, but without the mint.  Like watermelon, also.

Bob,

Interesting description of Conadria.  Sure you weren't dreaming that's what you hoped Conadria tasted like???  I've had two from my potted less than one year old tree and the taste was bland and watery.  I'm leaving the next two on the tree until they are nearly ready to drop off on their own to see if that helps the flavor.

Like all figs they improve with age.  This tree is at least 4 years old.  The figs were much bigger but as they dried on the tree they reduced to about half the size.

Bob,

What a difference a couple of weeks make (and possibly 5 degrees cooler temperatures while ripening).  I had my last Conadria fig for the year and was pleasantly surprised.  This fig has gone from posting a "free to good home" flyer to keeping it to see how it does next year.  Honestly, I had to choke down the earlier figs and this one was an enjoyable eating experience.  The taste was still very mild, but this time was not watery and had a definite sweetness to it.  I'm glad this fig shows some potential since it is very good producer and is a decent sized fig (plum size).  I've probably had 6-8 figs from this less than 1 year old tree.  I had that many figs from this tree this year cause I gave up on trying to keep the number to 2 or 3, it really wants to make a lot of figs.
