Conadria Picture Update 7/3/10

I just took this photo this morning. This fig started to swell yesterday and got a little larger over night. The few figs I got from this tree last year were very good even though they ripened late(DEC) as it was in it's first year. I will update post when I get to pick this one

Very nice Sal, looks like you're going to get to taste figs in a few days!

Thanks Tim Like most I'm prone to pick to soon. last year we were out of town for a week in Dec and when I returned I had many ripe figs. Most I thought at first were to ripe but I was wrong they were some of the best of the season by just letting them sit for a few extra days. I will try to wait this one out till I see the skin cracking shows on this variety

Sal

Since 2005 i have been seeing ripe fig pictures on other forum several months before they ripen here and it gets me anxious to taste figs !
Anyways please show inside picture when you taste so i can drool like my big dog sometimes does when we eat !!!

My congrats.
Is it DFIC05 or DFIC50; source UCD; or otherwise?...
(mine is DFIC05).

[Edit: Mine, initially gave me quite a few EARLY figs, but now it seems to have gone silent?!]

Thanks Gorgi It is from Almost Eden, red to purple flesh last year. I updated a pic of the Sal C you sent me it is growing great and has about  14 figs on it. I pinched and it just keeps growing to the sky ;o) Here is a pic of Conadria from last year in DEC I sent you a pm

Sal, I also got one from Almost Eden late last spring and it is doing well. It has about 6 figs on in now and is about 30 inches tall. Those in your photo look great and I hope mine ripen to look as good and taste great.
"gene"

Gene I think we got ours around the same time in July for me last year. If yours is the same I'm sure you will enjoy the flavor very rich sweet and jam like when fully ripe ;)

OK SOME ONE HELP AND SAY NO, NO, NO, NO, NOT YET, WE JUST GOT SOME RAIN 1/2-3/4 INCH OF RAIN IN AN HOUR AND THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED ( In A tooo Days Italian U no)  ;o) I donwanna pick today Just say NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Yes -no no -yes -  naw
give it till morning  - early morning .
or wait another day or two maybe perhaps for sure naw, oh what the heck eat it and see how it tastes its only a "white fig" give it a day or two if it splits nothing lost ........ Laughing (not at you of course )  !!!

I say go for it Sal. It's limp, it's cracking, it's bright yellow and I see some dark stuff starting to show near the eye that could be mold. If it's not perfectly ripe it will help you gauge when to pick the next one.

Well after a much needed rain and expecting some more today I decided it was time to pick this morning 7/3/10 8:41 AM ;o)
weight= 97grams  3.46 ounces
I was surprised that the pulp was an amber pink compared to the deep red purple it showed last season. Taste was good, rich, sweet, thick honey fruity taste, good seed crunch, thin skin. Possibly could have waited another day or two as it had a white thick rind but not tough at all. hope you enjoy as my wife and I did. Will wait longer on next one

Sal,

great pics!
I enjoy watching them,
As I sit here sharpen my teeth! LOL

Very nice Sal,hope they just get better & better.

I bet it was tasty! ;)
