I was wondering if anyone knows or have grown both to see if they are the same or different. I always hear people mention Strawberry figs, Verte figs" or Strawberry Verte. Are these all the same?
I think the jury is out on that as far as I know. So I'm just going to grow all three and see for myself. I still need the Strawberry Verte though. :) Sometimes figs are so similar that they appear to be the same, but one might do better in wetter climates or one might do better in hotter longer summers.
As far as I know verte, and strawberry verte, are green ischia. Most times one fig can have several names for each part of the country or world they are in. Makes it rather confussing add that to the long list of unknows and its a mess. But there are hidden treasures out there.
Actually...I noticed a few weeks ago that UCD lists "Verte" and "Green Ischia" other names for "Calvert" but has a second variety listed as "Strawberry Verte", so I do believe they are two different varieties. See my previous topic here:http://figs4funforum.websitetoolbox.com/post/strawberry-verte-vs-calvert-6580614
Some varieties have several names, and often several varieties have the same name. Welcome to the "fin" part of fins.
I have Calvert, Strawberry, Verte, Green Isahia, JH Adriatic, and now Strawberry Verte. I will be taking a family photo of these guys this summer.
