Stopped by a local Whole Foods and saw fig trees on sale for $15.99. They were 2 gallon, 2-3 foot trees some with figs on them. Varieties offered are Black Spanish, Brown Turkey, LSU Purple, and Italian Honey.

I've only seen one fig tree for sale in my area and it was at the farmer's market last week. They said it was a Celeste. It was a nice sized plant in maybe a 5 gallon container. It would have made 4 nice air layers right out of the gate. $20.

Hi Dave. Do you know if Spanish Black is the same as Black Mission? If not I will pick one up. You are close enough, I believe, to take plants if you are looking. Mike

Mike not real sure if the Spanish Black is the same as a Black Mission. As I'm about 45 min from the store the chances of my returning soon are slim. I recall reading where the Spanish Black is very close to a Black Jack, but not real sure of that either. The store I visited was in West Hartford.

Hi Dave, It is listed as a synonym for Black Jack. A possible BT type My Black Jack cutting did not make it. I heard it is a very good fig. There are 12 or so in the Milford store. I will try to get there today or tomorrow. Thanks for the info, Mike

I stopped by the Milford store today. I am going to call again. I could not find the Black Spanish. They did have a couple Brown Turkeys, Chicago Hardy, and @8 LSU Purple. Probably the nicest plants I have seen for $14.99 I bought a 3'+ Chicago Hardy. I think they are in 2 gallon pots and are in front of the store. Mike

Hi, Nice looking trees ... BUT ... What do you think of the pic attached to the hardy-chicago ? Wasn't it used elsewhere for BrownTurkey if memory serves me well ? Isn't HC a dark fig ? Why show a brown one ? Well, buy and test if they are true to type. 15 bucks for a rooted plant is a fair deal . I just hate suppliers using random pics just because they don't have the legit ones .

You're right Mario The plants keep getting bigger and the yard keeps getting smaller. I thought this would take years. My mistake, losing site of the shed, lol. Did you see they are building storage units on Rt 5 for my figs? Nice of them. They should be ready in time. Talk soon, Mike
