corn or potato starch as fertilizer

Is it true that Corn or potato starch can be used  as fertilizer for figs? Any personal experience?

No experience. But based on other fertilizers I've used it sounds like better fungus knat breeding material than fig fertilizer.

Starch doesn't have many plant nutrients. But like I say I think it would be good fungus knat food.

I made honey mead. It's about 3 years old and two bottles corks popped out. Poured one bottle on my persimmon tree two days later it went into bloom.

I heard of using Corn Meal as fertilizer & soil treatment.
For mold on plant soil, I think you put corn meal on since it has a "good" fungus in it that will fight the microbes and wont harm the plant.
After the corn meal decays, it releases iron chelates back in that the plant can use. I saved some corn meal but didnt know how much to use since there was a warning about too much leaching something else out. Since it didnt list any amount or ratio I never tried.
I guess it take a sprinkle not a "cover" but it also said it may attract mice or beetles so I passed on it.

Is it the same-Corn starch and corn meal?

I think you got it drunk!

First Honey Mead- I want the recipe whether it gets the plants or me drunk, we'll see who looks better afterwards.

Second - corn meal is ground up as course grade or regular (still grainy) and is used to make corn bread, batter for fish fry and hush puppies.
On the other hand cornstarch is a fine powder that's mixed with cold water and used to thicken sauces instead of flour. I'm not sure if its pure or similar to confectioners sugar which is ground to powder but things are added to prevent clumping like a anti-caking agent.
Check the labels before use of any product. I have no idea if they would work the same since I never tried the cornmeal that was suggested to me.
