Costco packaged Figs

I was at Costco today with the wife. Noticed that they had figs for sale in the refrigerated section.  Picked up a package. Some were ok, some were "meh"

The Coscos here in Michigan there figs were spoiled.I could'nt find any that were good. The markets here have great calimyrnas.

I doubt Costco is the best place for figs.  It's August, right?  Need to check Trader Joes and Fresh and Easy.

No idea frank. I figured if I posted a photo somebody would recognize it

In our area, the Costco and Trader Joe's figs looked identicle (both looked Celeste-ish). Costco was keeping theirs in a cooler section than TJs however. Having tried the TJ's figs and finding them 'blah' (better after being half dehydrated) I opted to buy a watermelon instead. :)

What I love in August is the Lychees!!  Nothing better than an icy leechy!  Bada Bing.  Have no clue if we can even grow Lychees here, but WOW!

This is why we GROW our figs and NOT buy them at the store, but I will say the figs I got at Fresh and Easy were Mission, ripe and wonderful!

Hoping for enough varieties that ripen at different times to always have figs on hand.
