Could It Be True???

I took a peek at my cuttings this afternoon and the one that I unwrapped had some little white spots along the stem! Woop!

I started them last Friday and carefully wrapped them and put them in their own little incubation box (plastic container w/lid) and put them on the table on our covered back porch. I'm just surprised to see something so soon. <Happy Dance>

Yes, congratulations!
Not discourage you, I would say that the rooting is probably the easiest part of the fig propagation. Now you are responsible for about 10% and the Nature for 90% of the success. As you move alone, the % reverses. Basically, it is like your mortgage payments :(  except that you don't have to wait for 30 years!

I'm not scared! I've propagated lemons, key limes and loquats from seeds with great success, and a red ribbon or two at the Local County Fair! lol
I'm just excited to have my first figs and have my own land to put down roots on. I've been a renter for decades and all my babies are potted....Finally, I have the opportunity to actually plant!

Very exciting.  Way to make good use of the land!

I'm so happy for you! You're going to have so much fun.

Good luck and God bless.Soni

I don't see any roots in the photo above but I wish you the best of luck.  Congratulations on having land.

I agree with greenfig !
In March 2013 I receive 6 nice very fresh Black Madeira fig cuttings right from Madeira Portugal.
They rooted fine, but for some reason they rooted on the top of the cutting.
I waited and waited the root grew stronger but just the one on the top, so I cut it off one node cutting and I planted it.
After 2 weeks or so I end up with 16 nicely growing Black Madeira potted fig cuttings, I could not be happier ! Every fig grew about 3 to 5 leaves.
I used just regular potting soil that I had some left from last year.
Three weeks lather I needed to transplant them in a larger container so I went and I bot potting soil and transplanted the figs to a larger pots and 4 to 6 days I noticed small black fly.
I did not pay attention I did not know that they are Fungus Gnats and that they can destroy young plant.
The soil was contaminated with Fungus Gnats.
I bot all kind of sprays, nothing was helping, they wilted and kept dieing one by one, after I was left with only 8 dead looking things they did not look like fig cuttings at all.
Next day I put them in the basement, saying my good bays to my Black Madeira and my $ 80.00 and kind of forgot about them for about good three weeks, every so often I looked at them thinking I need to put it in the compost or garbage.
By the time I finely decided to throw it a way there was just half dry sticks no leaves.
But wait a minute !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and what is that green little poppy seed size thing on the side of the dry stick ????????????? Woahaha the soil was completely dry and all the bad gnats starved to dead and died.
Six cuttings are a live and growing stronger, some bether then the other.
Good luck JustPeachy

Thank you alanmercieca that is very nice of you. I use vinegar, orange juice, bear, sticky tapes, sprays, and nothing worked.
l was lucky I looked at the poor things close enough to see that there is life in them !
I must say that they looked so dead that if they survive that, for sure I will one day taste it's fruit.
