so the night temp is now around 40-50 degrees. the day temp in 70. the trees are dropping leaves and getting ready to go in rather early this year. i was hoping to see the trees out there till mid nov like last year, but i won't get what i wished for.
yesterday after work, i was check the trees and saw trail of ants going up my Paradiso Gene. apparently, i missed one perfectly ripened fig. i brushed ants away, and took a look at the fig. it was rather spotted outside. considering the amount of rain we had recently, i'm surprised how well this one survived. the eye wasn't open at all. well.. it was, but it was blocked with drop of thick honey.
i opened it up with my fingers thinking it might have some bugs inside and i won't be able to eat it. if ants, i don't have problem, but i have seen house flies after weeks of rain last time. i was glad to see there were no ants, flies, or anything crawling inisde.
the pulps were that dark yet bright red. it was filled with honey. i took a bite and taste of watermelon just washed over me. this was a fig worth finding when i though the season was done. then i turned around to see my Kathleen's Black. i found 3 figs about to finish turning color and getting ready to ripen.
this morning i woke up with rain outside of my house. i'm hoping the rain will stop soon and give Kathleen's Black chance to give me those 3 figs.
