VdB & RdB sound very French.
CdD_x sound Spanish.
BM should have originated from the Madeira Island(s).
Not sure about the Nero 600M; some say that it is 'similar' to the 'Mt Etna Sicily' type of fig?

Nero 600M a.k.a. Nero 400M is also known as Vallecalda (di Borgofornari). It's origin is Italy, Apennine Mountains.

You can read more about this variety on: http://www.planetfig.com

And welcome TideFan!

This is a very good thread,
Thank you David.

Col de Dame (Coll de Dama in Spanish) figs are native to adjoining regions that straddle the mediterrenean coast at the Pyrenees mountains, the French region of Roussillon and the Spanish region Catalunia. The CdD is also native to Mallorca (Balearic islands).
