Hey Martin,

  Sorry about Butch.
I'm a dog lover also.
Phil from Northern Ohio

Martin,

I was saddened when you told me about Butch a couple months ago.
He was what motivated me to pick on you about coming over and stealing your figs. LOL

I'm sure he is watching over you in his "Doggie Heaven".

We are all guests here my friend. Nobody can stay forever, just our memories.

Take care of yourself.

Sorry abour Butch, Martin. I recently lost my German Shepherd Rex also. Your garden looks beautiful. Container gardening at its best! Take care.

Some more pics hold mouse over pic for name.
You can also enlarge thumbnail by clicking on it.

He was a beautiful dog for sure. I'm sure you miss him a lot. Those are great pictures. The last fig pic looks like it's filled with strawberry jam!

You should publish fig calendars someday Martin.

Ohjustaguy that particular fig is black madeira.
The one with the underwears on fence is self explanatory if you hold mouse over the pic.

Martin,

It looks like Rafed forgot his doggie biscuits that time!

Posting fig pictures like that at this time of year is positively inhumane!  They made me drool so badly that I thought I was going to short out my laptop.

Hey Martin,

All in memory of Butch. LOL

But it looks like I'm not the only one trying to steal your figs. Reason I say this is because I don't wear those fancy Calvin kleins.

I am straight up Fruit of the loom guy.

I don't want to get started with the string ones either.

Diesler, your collection of figs sure looks excellent, lots of fruits of the tree's and sorry to hear about your best friend Butch! I like to have some of your collection in my yard, i think i see some of them down the road.

Martin how did you like the taste of your Black Madeira ?

Remis i enjoyed it but only had a couple here and there as they were sporadic in ripening process and could not get a good gauge on them other than hey this is pretty good cause i could not eat a bunch at once like i normally do with my figs  !
Hopefully this season as plant starts to grow and slowly gets  in sync i can taste more in one sitting and start to figure them out.

Here black madeira from my yard last season.

Wow what a beauty.I bet you took your time eating it.Thanks for sharing.

Hi Martin.

First I want to say how very sorry I am about your buddy Butch. I don't recall taking the opportunity to sy so before now. When you lose a loyal friend like that it's the same as losing a family member. It was good to see him in your youtube videos. I enjoyed watching those. Hope you post some more soon.

Thanks for sharing with us the tasty looking memories in those pictures.

Let's keep our hopes up for a great fig year in 2012 ;-) .

Thanks again for the comments. ; )

These were tasty indeed.

Hint for some newer members only below !

Get out hankerchef or napkin first.
Hold mouse over thumbnail to see file description as i name each one individually.
Use napkin to clean druel.
Yeah i like to joke around.  ; )

We know you mean well Martin.

But it is especially hard on some of us newer folks. We are still dreaming of the day when we have our baskets filled with fresh figs :-) .

Heck many of us haven't been growing figs long enough to have even developed as discriminating taste for them as you have. If only I produce enough dark and light ones this season to determine if I like one type over the other!

- all in fun man :-)).

The one in the middle looks like a white fig. Can't say for sure.

I understand Bill. I will continue to mean well in this thread ...lol

Naw Rafed dream on Babe. ; )

Martin (if I  may be familiar), condolences on the loss of your furry friend. I don't ever remember crying over the loss of a plant, but Suzanne and I cried like babies when the Rottie passed.

Meanwhile, keep posting those images. They are what motivate the rest of us to keep trying.

Wow thanks Dale .
Yeah it never gets easier matter of fact i think it actually gets harder as i age.
This was my 3rd named Butch and we were there at the time.
Now 3 urns of Butchies  we have.

On to more motivation as you say Dale.  ; )

Now you're just showing off Martin. But you know what we like don't you. Playing on our weakness..... ;) .

I must admit, you give me hope man. If you can do that in zone 5, surely I can do pretty well a zone or so warmer.

Visitors to yard and a young  Sultane leaf.

Hi Martin, I am sorry to hear about Butch; I am sure you have a lot of sweet memories of a great and beautiful dog partner.  Saw your 9/17/2011 You-tube video today and really enjoyed it.  You have a varied lot of very healthy fig plants and a neat, nice garden.  Thanks for sharing.  C.H.
